Oakland's airport operations team wanted passenger flow data at the security checkpoint without adding video surveillance.
The Solution
In 2025 the airport contracted Ariadne for a passenger analytics system. The first phase placed passenger flow sensors at the security checkpoint, with no video and no RGB imagery, feeding a live dashboard for security and terminal operations. The system went live in September 2025.
The Impact
Manual benchmarking under the airport's acceptance test plan put the sensors at 91% accuracy on entries and 96% on exits, 94% on average.
