The Challenge
Bamberg's business development team wanted evidence on how the town centre is used, street by street and square by square, for its Mitte.Bamberg.2025 programme.
The Solution
46 Ariadne sensors, some of them behind shop windows, measured pedestrian traffic in the town centre from late 2024 to early 2026, including Grüner Markt, Maximiliansplatz, and Obstmarkt, without cameras.
The Results
In May 2025 the sensors counted 1,019,399 passers-by. Grüner Markt Süd alone saw 196,615 that month, with an average stay of about 51 minutes. In December 2024 the town centre counted about 1.115 million passers-by.
